Popular music recognition applications such as Shazam and SoundHound are great tools for saving on mobile devices, so you can quickly find names when playing unknown songs.
But what if you want to do the same thing? In other words, naming a song that is not even played?
One way is to use online services. These work in a similar way to the Music ID application because they use the online database as a reference to try and match your queries. However, the way they do this can be very different. Some take your voice through the microphone to take the normal "audio" route. However, others take another route, such as identifying songs from lyrics or analyzing uploaded audio files that you are trying to record.
